Empathy and social interactions are generally what make us human and allow us to connect with others on a human level to build relationships. 

While these features are often associated with our psychology, recent research shows that hormones play a significant role in influencing empathy and social interaction.  

Different hormones affect the social behavior of humans in different ways. There are basically two hormones that affect social behavior: mainly testosterone and oxytocin.

 It helps us interpret social cues and understand others’ emotions, thereby enhancing our empathetic responses. Individuals with higher levels of oxytocin are better at recognizing facial expressions and responding empathetically to others’ emotional states.

Social Interaction and Oxytocin: In addition to empathy, oxytocin has effects on a variety of social behaviors. It helps increase feelings of trust and facilitates cooperation. Given its role in reducing conflict within groups of social species, oxytocin has apparently conserved properties for collaboration. 

Oxytocin also increases other-directed behaviors that can be described as positive for group members. These include sharing and accepting others’ thoughts.
